The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners is an organization formed in the year 1985 to provide nurse practitioners with a uniform and disciplined wayfor networking and advocate their issues under a authority. This is the first and only one organization created for registered nurse practitioners irrespective of their specialities in the United States of America.
The American academies of nurse practitioner represents more than 185,000 nurse practitioners currently practicing in the U. S. and continually advocates at local, state, and federal levels for the recognition of nurse practitioners and aid them by providing higher quality, cost effective and personalised healthcare programs that are required to excel in the medical field and have a brighter career and develop the ability to deliver the duties efficiently.
To facilitate the work and develop the ability to work efficiently the AANP is organized into 11 regions. Each region is responsible for the states in their geographic area. To monitor and facilitate the work each region has a regional director and each state has a state representative, elected by AANP members. The American academy of nurse practitioner hires efficient and responsible persons for the various posts.
The work of the AANP is to hire great people and providing them with challenging work responsibilities, so that they can continue to meet the demand and bring the challenging work to completionand continue to build a strong organization to meet the demands of associations in the competitive market also is able to keep up with it.
One of the important purposes of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners is to provide a National Certification Program that is valid and reliable for entry-level nurse practitioners, to guide the future nurses and to help them recognise their education, knowledge, and professional expertise. Another main function of the AANP related to the earlier is to provide a Program that is helpful in advanced practice nurse’s qualifications and knowledge for practice as a nurse practitioner.These are entry-level, programs that provide the nurse practitioners with a certificate to reflect their knowledge and expertise for specialties like adult, gerontology, and family nurse practitioner.
Program may be recertified every five years by sitting for the appropriate examination or by meeting the clinical practice and continuing education requirements if required by the nurse practitioner if required to keep up with the developments.
