The American College of Nurse Practitioners (ACNP) is a non-profit professional organization of nurse practitioners that is established with the goal to ensure the American public have access to affordable healthcare by advocating for nurse practitioner practice.Mission of the ACNP is to ensure a policy and regulatory foundation that enables nurse practitioners to continue providing accessible, high quality healthcare to the nation.
There were a loopholes and lack in the organized forum to discuss common issues faced by nurse practitioners;hence the national experts convened a Leadership Summit in 1993 to strategize ways to increase Nurse practitioner participation in national health policy.
The ACNP is a small group of about 125 Nurse practitioners chartered and called the National Nurse Practitioner Coalition. In the year 1994, the Coalition changed its organizational structure to a membership organization. The new name, the American College of Nurse Practitioners they began to serve the information to other Nurse Practitioners on how to successfully advocate inclusion in health policy for the nation and since then work to promote health and health care facilities to the nation. In the year 1999, the ACNP hosted its First National Clinical Conference.

The ACNP is a works with the Interdisciplinary non-hierarchical team of nurse practitioner and provide highest quality of care and also work to make the medical treatment cost effective and under the reach of common public, the Organisation works in collaboration as inclusiveness is essential prerequisite to make the medical services available for the candidates with affordable prices and within the reach of common pubic.
There are Annual Meeting organised at the American college of Nurse practitioner that is designed to update and expand the practitioner’s knowledge in the medical, nursing, and socio psychological sciences related to nursing field. this association also issues and conducts the various licencing examination of the nurse practitioners in America.
